Good read, good advice

My husband, who usually does not like to read - especially books that tell him what to do - asked me to buy this book for him. This book makes sense and it has advise on things he can use.

A bit wordy in the beginning chapters and repetitive about hiring a physical trainer. Bob Forman covers golf specific stretching exercises and then golf specific strengthening exercises. Improving the strength of the abdominal muscles to fix lower back pain worked for me. Overall I found the exercises do work and the book is worth buying. I recommend it.

Exercises that anyone can do just about anywhere - and he explains issues with different parts of your body (if you have some pain or stiffness in one area, focus on that section)... Good Series

Waiting to Lose is a great follow up to The Contest. It picks up right where book 1 left off, so be aware that you have to read it. These are not stand alone books. If you have not read The Contest, stop reading this review. It does contain slight spoilers.

In this book, Madi and Jake are together and going the long distance thing. He is still on tour and she is back to school. Their relationship is still a secret to the public to protect Madi's privacy. However, the tabloids have matched him up with an actress and someone is emailing Madi fake pictures to try to break them up. This isn't the only test that Madi and Jake go through. They are still dealing with the tragic event and the ripples of it that took place in book one.

I again enjoyed the dynamic between Jake and Madi. They are just really fun characters. The author did a great job creating realistic, relatable characters. The only character I didn't enjoy as much in this book as I did previously is Madi's best friend, Kendra. Honestly, I found her to be a bitch. After her past was revealed a bit and how she is a bit damaged, i still could not like her. She just rubbed me wrong in this book.

Kendra aside, I totally recommend this series. It's light, fun, flirty, and perfect for a lazy reading day.

Jake is still on tour and trying to keep Madi safe from afar! He loves her and knows she is it for him! When he finally realized it there was no coming back.
Madi is at college keeping there relationship quiet she needs to finish school! She misses Jake so deeply! She has Kendra to keep her sane!

When Madi is given a reason to not trust the faith she has with Jake! The rumor mill of Allison Gregory hurts her to no end. Jake will fight tooth and nail to prove to Madi that she is the only woman for him.

Will it be enough for them to work?

DawnL. Chiletz novel title Waiting to Loose. I was so excited to get my hands on more of Madi and Jake's story!!! Yet again Dawn had me all over the place with these! This writers is a true story teller!!! She had me wanting to throw my kindle and hug it at the same time! I loved how in depth this story got in was a real eye opener in the true test of love and trust! Again, the writing was phenomenal. I will highly recommend this novels to readers! Dawn will be one of my go to authors!

So you read The Contest and you want to know what happens next? It gets crazier! And awesome-er!

Waiting to Lose IS SO GOOD!

Here's what we've got:
Sexy time? Check.
Hilarity? Check.
Suspense? Check.
The feels? Check times a million!

This was probably one of the best #2 in a series I've read! The depth of the story was kicked up a notch and the plot got cranked up to 11!

Madi and Jake thought they had it figured out, but they both soon realize that neither of them thinks they really deserve each other, or that it would be best if they weren't together. Some people close to them are rooting for them and some people, to their surprise, are going to lengths to keep them apart. So, how do they decide on the right thing to do?

Protection is a strong theme in this book. But who needs protecting? And from whom? You'll have to crack open the pages to find out.

You are not going to want to miss out on this sequel. There are twists and turns that broadsided me before I even really knew what was going on that made me want to know the end that much more! Plus, there are some additions to the cast that make the dynamic of the Jake & Madi team so much more entertaining!

Read it. You won't regret it.

I am a retired academic. I've read a ton of literature on retirement planning (both concerning accumulation and decumulation) and I am happy to say, speaking as a retiree, that this book is by far among the two best (Jim Otar's book being the other), especially as it addresses the much-ignored topic of transitioning from accumulation to decumulation.

Whether in the accumulation or decumulation phase of retirement planning, get this book and use it to review your investment plan on an annual basis.

sensible approach to retirement finance by first constructing "flooring"

a really useful overview of a sensible approach to retirement finance. uses a model of "flooring"- i.e. secure funding for basic needs via a bond ladder and/or annuities. the discussion of flooring [as opposed to "buckets" or other models of portfolio] is the biggest and most important part of the book. if you have the resources, of course, you can build a superstructure on top of your floor. i'm not there yet myself, but for now my plan is flooring with social security and fixed annuities [escalating annuities are overpriced imo], along with other portfolio investments to protect from inflation.

update 5/16- this book definitely influenced my decision to buy some single premium fixed immediate annuities to combine with social security as my "flooring." [i still think escalating and indexed annuities are overpriced. find some quotes and use an online calculator to see how long it takes for escalating payouts to do you any good, and how much more it would cost to get the kind of payouts available from straight fixed annuities. then, too, heavy fees are a problem with more complicated annuities than the kind i bought.]

i am managing the rest of my retirement funds with inflation protection in mind, as the real purchasing power of the fixed annuities will decline with time. the fixed annuity pays out a far higher percentage [6%] than i could ever safely draw from a self managed portfolio which would not benefit from mortality credits. this is especially true in our current environment of high pe's in equities and historically low interest rates. in this environment people don't talk about a "4% rule," they talk about a "2-3% rule."

you do not have to get caught in the false insurance VERSUS investment conflict. you can use insurance products like annuities AND investments to get the benefits of both. anyway, i recommend this book if you're thinking about how to organize your finances heading into retirement.

Excellent book

I am just a regular investor. I wanted to study more about setting up a retirement income stream and to build a safety floor for that income. This book answered all of my questions. Highly recommend it. It's an easy read for anyone with some basic skills.
Edit: Now that I've had time to soak everything I've learned, all the books I read helped me, but this book at the end helped me to put it all together and was the most influential in figuring out my retirement withdrawal setup.

For this very popular speaker and bestselling author of the classic Your Erroneous Zones, intention is not dogged determination, but an inner awareness "that exists in the universe as an invisible force of energy." This conviction, gleaned from Dyer's professional experiences, metaphysical studies and contacts with personal mentors, has allowed him to link to the force of intention and use it to enhance his life and work. For Dyer, there are seven faces, or energy fields, of intention: creativity, kindness, love, beauty, expansion, abundance and receptivity. Drawing on a variety of spiritual traditions and gurus, Dyer first describes how to surmount the barriers that may get in the way of connecting to this power, such as negative thinking, relying on the opinion of others or retaining a controlling ego. Although Dyer's message is deeply sympathetic, his conception of the fields of insight reads like a familiar mixture of Eastern and Western philosophies wrapped up in a new theoretical package. In a chapter on living a stress-free life, for example, he recommends silently repeating the words "I want to feel good"-i.e., practicing a form of meditation-and elsewhere advises practicing detachment, a cornerstone of Buddhism. Another tactic, using forgiveness as a means to achieve peaceful relations with difficult family members, has recently found a wealth of expression. A gift for yourself.

Truth be told, I'm taking my time with this book. It is so rich with lessons that I read a page and think on it for a few months before moving on. It's full of gorgeous illustrations and beautiful, compassionate wisdom. Beautiful gift for yourself or someone close to you who would be open to hearing more from Wayne or is into metaphysics.

Great Bedside Reading

This is one of those books you keep near your bedside for late night reading so you can fall asleep after cramming your mind with all these positive thoughts and affirmations, and feel-good thinking. That way, after your unconscious continues to play with the ideas to help you fashion the new you in your dreams, you can awaken the next morning in a very “born again” manner.

Perhaps for that reason, it’s also one of those books that might take you six months or more to read, as it’s a form of spiritual medicine perhaps best appreciated in small doses. Which is not to say you can’t sprint through the book, but it’s been my experience that Dwayne’s books are better for daily tune-ups, served up in small bite size chunks than read end to end in one sitting. But that’s just me.

I prefer to take one of the many brilliant thesis-like ideas in the book, presented in one or two paragraphs and meditate and reflect on that for a few days. But however you get through The Power of Intention, it’s time well spent.

This is an excellent book, written with the passion

This is an excellent book, written with the passion, style and insight that Wayne Dyer's guidance provided to us. It will inspire you to look within for answers and learn how to tap into the way your thoughts affect and create everything. The Power of Intention is, without exception, one of his best books. There is so much here that one needs to spend ample time reading and reflecting on the contents. There is also a DVD tape / CD of same. t I found these entertainng and most helpful when listening proved a gentle approach to fully comprehending the material in print. I have read nearly all of his works and often listen to his CD's while driving. For me, I feel upmost gratitude for what he has taught me. He is the shoulder of gentle guidance, perspective, and inspiration; spoken to us with sincerity and humor.
I have given and shared many of his books ( this one included) to friends and family members and know that I will throughout my life. Get to know him through his works and you will reap the wonderful benefits of his teachings and learn how to apply them in your own life.

The story of a nation that was located in a rough neighborhood, and not anymore. Though it deals with serious issues, it's not a heavy read. I set down last night and read the book cover to cover. Exciting, fast paced... flows from the first line to its surprising ending. I recommend it a lot.

Pretty good book, but it seemed to lack some detail/understanding that I really wanted as a senior/1st year graduate class in electrical engineering. I felt like I would search for answers to specific questions, just to have to go elsewhere to find it. About the Author
Allan Havis has taught theatre and film over three decades at University of California, San Diego. As a playwright, his work has been produced widely in the U.S. and also in Europe. Thirteen plays have been published including anthologies in Penguin/Mentor, TCG, University of Illinois Press, and Broadway Play Publishing. His novel Albert the Astronomer was published by Harper & Row. He is provost of Thurgood Marshall College at UC San Diego.

Great read!

I had the pleasure of taking a seminar on Cult Films of the 1950's-2000's with Allan Havis back in the Winter of 2009, and this was "textbook" we read for the class. As someone who knew nothing about what cult films were, this book provided me with the background information and analysis I needed to supplement the ideas we discussed.

Good Intro to Cult Films

I bought this book to augment my research for a project in a cult cinema course I took. While It doesn't really offer a clear, definitive definition of cult, nor does it offer a checklist for its criteria, it's a worthy academic text that probes the annals of film history and presents some classics deserving of a closer look.
